The Gathering Place Continues to Make a Difference with Renewed Commitment to Accountability and Community Support
The Gathering Place is proud to unveil a fresh look and a renewed commitment to ensuring that those in need have access to hot, nutritious meals. With an ongoing dedication to accountability and service, the organization continues to be a beacon of hope for many in the North Bay community.
In our mission to ensure no one in North Bay goes hungry, The Gathering Place is thrilled to announce the return of an evening meal service, available once a week. This addition further strengthens our role in supporting the community’s most vulnerable individuals.
“We are excited to share that 157 walkers have already signed up for the Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY) event, showing their unwavering support for The Gathering Place,” said Peter Gregory, Board Chair. “CNOY is a national initiative where communities come together to raise funds and awareness for local charities. By participating, we are helping to change lives and address hunger in our community.”
It’s not too late to get involved! You can still support The Gathering Place by making a donation or signing up to walk. For more information, please visit North Bay (The Gathering Place) – CNOY 2025 Canada.
The Gathering Place serves a diverse group of people, including those on disability, seniors, veterans, families, youth and anyone in need. More than just a meal program, it is a warm, welcoming space where individuals can find companionship and socialization.
In addition to providing meals, The Gathering Place works diligently to combat food waste. Last year, 225,000 pounds of surplus food were rescued and redirected to local partners, diverting it from landfills and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This rescued food enables us to be a food distribution hub for the community. Every day, we send hundreds of pounds of food out to neighbouring agencies, group homes, shelters, church food banks, and student food banks.
“We are committed to serving our community with dignity and respect in a safe, friendly environment,” said Gregory. “We invite everyone to visit and see the incredible work being done here firsthand.”
